April 2019 Transportation Update

Are you considering submitting a Transportation Alternatives application this year?  If so, here are the top five things to remember for this round:
  1. SMART Portal opens on May 15, 2019.
  2. Pre-applications are mandatory this year and due on July 1, 2019.
  3. The pre-application will populate the full app and you won't be able to make changes to the content, unless VDOT concurs with content updates.
  4. Full applications will be due on October 1, 2019.  Local resolutions are also required by the due date, no extensions will be granted.
  5. Projects will be awarded funds that are available on July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2021.
The Regional Commission will invite the Salem District Commonwealth Transportation Board representative to meet with local partners in the Fall.  The meetings offer an opportunity to discuss competitive application submissions and general transportation priorities.
