Cyclists on trail

On June 14th staff from the Regional Commission led a guided bike tour on the Huckleberry Trail. The family-friendly bike tour traversed a portion of the trail and discussed history about the two towns the corridor has connected since 1904. The event was in conjunction with the Mountains of Music Homecoming week and was sponsored by RIDE Solutions, Montgomery County Regional Tourism, the New River Valley Bicycle Association, and Roam NRV. RIDE Solutions is a carpool matching and alternative transportation service funded in part by local governments and a grant from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transit. The program is delivered by the New River Valley Regional Commission, the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission, the Central Virginia Planning District Commission, and the West Piedmont Planning District Commission.
