Stay Informed. Tell us what you think. The regional hazard mitigation plan update has kicked off and working groups to consider each hazard are in progress. You can access the meeting summaries and other information at this website - http://www.engagenrv.org/hazard-mitigation-plan - as well as contribute your thoughts, feedback and questions to the planning team. The site is updated monthly and you can sign up for notifications as well.

Hazard mitigation is any sustainable action that reduces or eliminates long-term risk to people and property from future disasters. Mitigation planning breaks the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated damage – saving lives, protecting property, and keeping a community functioning after a disaster. This plan update addresses the hazards our region is most at risk for (like flooding) and identifies opportunities in policies, practices, and on-the-ground projects to build resiliency before the next disaster strikes.
