Last year, the Regional Commission received $2M in implementation funding from Virginia Housing. This funding will be used as seed money to create a regional Housing Trust Fund, one of the seven regional strategies identified in the Regional Housing Study. The Fund will then act as a locally controlled source of funding to address critical housing needs throughout the region. The Regional Commission is working to convene a group of regional stakeholders to shape the design of the fund as well as to attract other sources of local, private, and grant dollars. A call for project proposals is slated for late summer of 2023.
