Woman poses with child and books

Smart Beginnings NRV was thrilled to donate 200 books to the Children’s Health Improvement Partnership of the New River Valley (CHIP), in addition to providing books to the Giles Early Education Project, Reading Hour, and Pulaski County Schools’ VPI Classrooms. This donation was made possible by the wonderful people at Sands Anderson—a law firm with locations throughout Virginia, including right here in the New River Valley—who provided the books and entrusted Smart Beginnings to distribute them to the community.

CHIP, the primary recipient of the Sands Anderson donation, is a home visiting program that provides medical support to pregnant women and low-income families with children through age six.  CHIP gives a children’s book away with every home visit, and with over 3000 home visits annually, CHIP requires a lot of books! Thanks to the support of dedicated community partners such as Sands Anderson, Smart Beginnings was able to direct these books into the hands of people who need them.
