On March 19th Kevin Byrd joined a delegation of planning district executive directors from across Virginia to host a Congressional Briefing with legislative staff in Washington, DC.  The briefing was coordinated by the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions in conjunction with the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) annual Washington Policy Conference.  The briefing included an overview of the role planning districts play in connecting the communities they serve to federal resources with specific emphasis on the value of the US Economic Development Administration, Appalachian Regional Commission and Community Development Block Grants administered by HUD.  Kevin serves as 1st Vice President of NADO and while at the conference he moderated a panel on the impact of substance abuse disorder on the workforce.  Panelist included representatives from the White House, Ohio State University and the National Rural Health Association.
