In May, the New River Health District hosted an appreciation luncheon for volunteers who supported clinics, the call center and testing centers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The luncheon was held at Bissett Park and the rain held off so everyone could enjoy lunch and time together outside. As we continue to normalize work and social engagements, it is good to remember the fantastic response and community commitment to helping each other we have here in the New River Valley.

The BCT continues to support schools and the community with REVIVE training on site. The impact of the pandemic on substance use disorder was dramatic and the ability to address overdoses by citizens, employers and family members can offer an important resource to literally save lives. Holly Lesko can offer this 30 minute training in partnership with the New River Health Department, and Narcan can be provided to anyone who gets trained. To learn more, visit https://dbhds.virginia.gov/behavioral-health/substance-abuse-services/revive or contact Holly at 540-230-6575 or hlesko@nrvrc.org to schedule a training at your business, office, or organization.
